What is Weeniehearsal?
Weeniehearsal is Sanderson’s Marching Band Kickoff Night—a long-running tradition where we get together, serve hot dogs (“weenies”), and officially launch the new season. The name is funny on purpose… and the night is genuinely important: it’s where new and returning students meet the team, learn what marching band is really like, and get excited about what’s ahead.
Not a full rehearsal. Not an audition.
It’s a kickoff event designed to help families feel informed and confident about joining.

Absolutely not! We will teach you everything that you need to know about all things marching band.
Is this an audition?
Nope! Students do not audition to be in our band. This is for you to decide if you want to do awesome things with the Marching Spartans!
Do I need to bring an instrument?
Not yet. We will be playing a ton of music in the future but that is not for this night.
What should I wear?
Wear clothes that you are comfortable in.
Does a parent/guardian need to attend?
Definitely! This is an evening for everyone and it is important that both parents and students are here so they can ask all of the questions and get all of the answers.
What if we can’t attend?
Sometimes the schedule is unforgiving and families are unable to attend. Never fear! Simply email us with your contact info and we will follow-up with you and provide everything you need!
