OVERVIEW:

Rookie Camp - Friday, July 14, 8:00 - 12:00 Bring instrument, water bottle and sunscreen

Week 1: Monday, July 17 - Friday, July 21, 8:30 AM-4:30 Bring instrument, water bottle, sunscreen and LUNCH. See suggestions below.

Week 2: Monday, July 24 - Friday, July 24, 8:30 - 8:30 Bring instrument, water bottle, sunscreen and LUNCH. Dinners provided.

 

INFO ABOUT BAND CAMP:

  • START HYDRATING THE WEEK BEFORE!  Drink plenty of water over the weekend!  Be sure to keep hydrating throughout Band Camp and August - even once you're home after practice and just want to sleep, drink that glass of water before resting! 

  • Parents please check-in with your student Monday morning at the check-in table by the Rock.  Students (and Parents) who confirmed their registration information at Rookie Camp can proceed directly to the band room upon arrival.  Volunteers will be at the check-in table starting at 8:00 AM Monday to confirm paperwork and answer any questions.

  • Be sure to eat a good breakfast before arriving at camp.

  • Arrive 15 minutes before start time.

  • BRING LUNCH!  No students are to leave campus during both weeks of Band Camp.

  • Bring a water bottle (or water cooler/jug) pre-filled with water from home.  Be sure your water bottle has your name on it.

  • We will have water, Gatorade and snacks available.  

  • Wear comfortable and supportive shoes for walking.

  • Bring and wear sunscreen.

  • Bring a towel to wipe down.

  • It may be a good idea to bring a fresh t-shirt and an extra pair of socks for the afternoon session.

  • Band lockers will be assigned Monday.  Bring a lock if you'd like to secure your belongings.

  • Bring any medication needed during the day, including Advil, Tylenol, EpiPen, etc.  Parents and instructors are not allowed to hand out any medication.  

  • Students - do not leave "emergency" medication in your locker - be sure to bring it with you as you move around campus throughout the day.

  • We do have a "First Aid" Bag with basic supplies:  band aids, wraps, ice packs, peppermints (upset stomach), etc.

  • Wake County Schools monitor the weather for the summer sports/band programs.  If there is a "Code Red" heat advisory day, we will still have practice, however it will be held indoors.

  • There will be a time during the second week of camp to take a brief nap or rest in the afternoon.  Kids can bring a pillow, blanket, slippers/flip flops, and a change of clothes if they like.

  • Parents - be sure to attend the Parent Meeting on Tuesday, July 25 at 7:00 PM in the auditorium.

  • Be sure to attend the performance in the Football Stadium parking lot at 5:00 PM on Friday, July 28.

We Need Snacks! 

Please send in snacks for Band Camp! 
Suggested Snacks: Gold Fish, Pretzels, Pub Mix, Chex Mix, Cheez It, Cheeseballs, Animal Crackers.
We will be looking for snacks all throughout the season, so feel free to send them into the Band Room with your student anytime.

Students arrive at 8:15 AM
8:30 AM - 12 Noon Students on the field
12:00 - 1:00 PM Lunch break in the Cafeteria. Kids bring their own lunch.
1:00 - 4:00 PM Sectionals (Inside)
4:00 - 6:00 PM Dinner Break
4:00 - 5:00 PM Activity (Rest/Lounge areas)
5:00 - 6:00 PM Dinner and Dessert in the Cafeteria
6:00 - 8:20 PM Students back on the field
8:30 PM Parents pick up students


Mandatory Parent Meeting Scheduled for Tuesday, July 25th at 7:00 in the Auditorium

Senior Skits are scheduled for Thursday, July 17th at 9:00 in the auditorium. Students and parents are invited.

Enjoy a performance and pick up your student on Friday, July 28th at 5:30 in the bus parking lot

 

Week 2 - Dinner Menu

Beverages included for each meal-assorted drinks (i.e. water, lemonade, ice tea, etc.)

Entree Choice - 3 piece crispy chicken tenders, crispy chicken sandwich, or grilled chicken sandwich.

Entree Choice - cheese pizza (2 large slices), pepperoni pizza (2 large slices), or spaghetti with meat sauce.

Wednesday - Taco Night
Entree Choice - Grilled chicken soft tacos (2), or seasoned ground beef soft tacos (2),
or taco salad with grilled chicken, or taco salad with seasoned ground beef.

Thursday - Joe Higgenbotham’s Bodacious Burgers
Entree Choice - All Beef Burger or All Veggie Burger prepared by our very own award winning Grill Master!
