Volunteering at NCSU Home Football Games
NC State Football Fundraiser Information
We have the opportunity to work NC State football games as Ushers or Ticket Takers to earn money for our children’s Fair Share accounts.
Amount Earned: We earn $9.50/hour for our services at the games, which goes directly into your Fair Share account (there are no taxes taken out).
Time Worked: Those who sign up may work as Ushers or Ticket Takers. For each game, we are guaranteed at least 4 hours of work. Workers average 5-6 hours per game, depending on the role and the length of the game. When we are finished, we are allowed to return home, or if we are done before the game ends, we have the option to stay and watch the game.
Report Time: Report time for the games is 2 hours and 45 minutes prior to kick-off. We are paid for this time. Gates open 90 minutes before kick-off, so we will have 1 hour and 15 minutes before our official duties begin. During this time, we will receive a brief orientation.
Duties: Ushers will be assigned a section number and will greet fans when they arrive and show them where their seats are located. They will also answer questions throughout the game and alert supervisors if they see any issues in their sections. Ticket Takers will assist in scanning tickets when fans arrive. We will not be involved in security (checking bags). Security is performed by trained Staff-1 employees. Ticket takers must be at least 16 years of age and ushers must be 18 years or older.
Parking: We are able to park, free of charge, in a lot near the horse complex, which is close to the stadium. The parking area does require a 10-15 minute walk to the stadium. Alternatively, if there are enough people, we can carpool or you could be dropped off near the stadium.
Dress Code: Workers need to wear khaki, straight-legged pants (no shorts). When we arrive at the stadium, we will be issued either a polo shirt or a jacket, depending on weather and temperature that day. Mostly black shoes and dark socks are also required.
Sign-up: Contact SHS Band Boosters Event Coordinator. We are required to send names in on a Sunday for the following Saturday’s game. Once your name is submitted, you are committed to filling that slot. In other words, once you sign up, you cannot change your mind and back out or you risk jeopardizing the fundraiser for everyone because Staff-1 (the company for whom we work) has had problems with groups in the past who have committed a certain number of resources but not followed through with the number they said would work a game.
