Chaperone Opportunities

Your continued support of the band is vital as they continue their march towards excellence. Chaperones and pit crew are needed for the competitions scheduled this fall. Please check your calendars now to sign up to accompany the band and/or to tote band equipment. Parents will be needed to accompany the band to competitions on the following dates: (to be determined for 2010-2011 season).

Pre-Camp: Two to three chaperones per shift will be needed the week of July 19-22 to help at pre-camp practice held at Sanderson High School. Each shift is approximately four hours long with one shift in the morning and one in the afternoon. This is the perfect time to help if you can only manage a half-day commitment. Of course, you do not have to limit your help to one half day session. A parent is also needed to help coordinate the pre-camp week. No experience is necessary-on the job training will be provided.

Band Camp: Approximately 18 parent chaperones per day will be needed to properly supervise resident camp held the week of July 23 - 27 at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina. Re-live dorm life while supporting our band as they get ready for the fall competition season. You may volunteer for the entire week or a portion of the week.

If you are interested in chaperoning the band, please contact Dona Overby with the date(s) you would like to help listed in order of personal preference - with your first choice listed first and your last choice listed last. Chaperones will be scheduled as needed and contacted by e-mail.

Friday night at the football game is a great opportunity to become acquainted with the pit equipment and crew. The first game is TBD. Help would also be welcomed during Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday practices beginning August 3. You don't need big muscles, just the desire to help.
